The standalone fast-track bill just passed Senate by 60-37!—legislation that would let the Obama Administration essentially bypass Congress (unilateral power which is unconstitutional) and pass anti-user trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership which would not be good!

The #TPP empowers foreign corporations to drag the U.S. government in front of secretive foreign tribunals comprised of 3 private attorneys authorized to order massive payments. Among the outrageous claims foreign firms can make under this system is that a change in government policy undermined their “expected future profits.” and foreign firms can demand compensation from us taxpayers. The TPP is slated to include the extreme foreign investor privileges that help corporations offshore more U.S. jobs to low-wage countries.

Under the TPP, any U.S. food safety rule on pesticides, labeling or additives that is higher than international standards would be subject to challenge as “illegal trade barriers.” The U.S. could be required to eliminate these rules and allow in the unsafe food under threat of trade sanctions. Internet Service Providers could be required to “police” user activity (i.e. police YOU), take down internet content, and cut people off from internet access for common user-generated content. Through the “investor-state” system, the TPP would allow corporations operating in TPP countries to launch a case against domestic environmental laws that they see as inhibiting “expected future profits.”
